Sausage and Vegetable Stir-fry Main Ingredients- 3 Sausages (Vienna, Frankfurters, or your preference)
- 1/2 Onion
- 1/2 Bell Pepper (using multiple colors makes it more vibrant)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- A little Sesame Seeds
Spicy and Sweet Ssoya Bokkeum Sauce- 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Corn Syrup or Oligosaccharide
- 2 Tbsp Ketchup
- 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Corn Syrup or Oligosaccharide
- 2 Tbsp Ketchup
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, clean any impurities from the surface of the sausages. For longer sausages, blanching them in hot water for about 1 minute makes them softer and more pleasant. Score the Vienna sausages diagonally or cut regular sausages into bite-sized pieces. Scoring helps the sauce penetrate better and cooks them faster.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1/2 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligosaccharide), and 2 Tbsp ketchup. Mix thoroughly with a spoon to create a delicious Ssoya Bokkeum sauce. This golden ratio guarantees a successful dish!
Step 3
Heat 2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the prepared sausages and stir-fry. When the scored parts start to open up and turn golden brown, as if they are being fried, they become more appealing and flavorful. Be careful not to burn the sausages; stir-frying over medium heat is key.
Step 4
Once the sausages are somewhat cooked, add the diced 1/2 onion and 1/2 bell pepper. You can also use any leftover vegetables you have in the fridge for the bell peppers to add color. Finally, sprinkle a pinch of black pepper to enhance the sweetness of the vegetables and the savory flavor of the sausages.
Step 5
Pour the pre-made Ssoya Bokkeum sauce into the pan and stir well to coat all the ingredients evenly. Continue to cook over medium-low heat for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to meld with the ingredients, until the delicious sausage and vegetable stir-fry is ready.
Step 6
Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and an appetizing finish. This perfectly completes your sausage and vegetable stir-fry! It’s wonderful served over warm rice as a rice bowl, or packed as a delicious lunchbox side dish.
