Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Let’s get started on making a delicious and nutritious stir-fried baby octopus recipe that’s wonderfully chewy.

Step 2

First, let’s prepare the star of the dish – the sauce! In a bowl, combine Gochujang (2 Tbsp), Gochugaru (2 Tbsp), Sugar (1 Tbsp), Soy Sauce (2 Tbsp), a pinch of Black Pepper, and Minced Garlic (1 Tbsp). Whisk everything together until the sugar is dissolved. (This is Baek Jong-won’s secret ratio for guaranteed deliciousness!)

Step 3

Now, place the cleaned baby octopus, along with the sliced onion, carrot, chili pepper, and green onions, into a large bowl. Pour the prepared sauce over them. Gently mix everything together with your hands, ensuring the sauce coats the octopus and vegetables evenly. For an even richer flavor, let it marinate for about 10 minutes. Heat a lightly oiled pan over high heat. Add the marinated octopus and vegetables and stir-fry quickly for about 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to overcook, as this can make the octopus tough. Cooking it quickly is key!

Step 4

Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in the Sesame Oil (1 Tbsp) for a glossy finish and nutty aroma. Sprinkle generously with Sesame Seeds for garnish. And there you have it – a mouthwatering stir-fried baby octopus that’s ready to be enjoyed! It’s absolutely delicious served with a side of hot rice and fresh lettuce wraps.
