Easy Side Dish! Delicious Stir-Fried Dried Shredded Squid
A simple yet incredibly popular side dish, this Stir-Fried Dried Shredded Squid is a must-have! It’s easy to make and a favorite for everyone in the family.
Ingredients- 1 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean Chili Paste)
- 1 bag Dried Shredded Squid (approx. 100g)
- 1 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (or Corn Syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and 1 Tbsp of gochujang. Stir-fry them together, being careful not to burn the garlic, until fragrant and the gochujang is softened and well combined. This forms the base of your sauce.
Step 2
Lightly rinse the dried shredded squid under water to remove any excess salt, then gently squeeze out the excess water. Add the 1 bag of prepared dried shredded squid to the pan. Stir-fry gently to coat the squid evenly with the sauce base. You’ll notice the squid starting to soften.
Step 3
To ensure the squid remains tender and not too dry, add 1 Tbsp of mayonnaise. Continue to stir-fry, mixing the mayonnaise well with the other ingredients. The mayonnaise adds a lovely creamy texture and richness.
Step 4
Once the squid is cooked to your desired texture and has absorbed the sauce, stir in 1 Tbsp of oligosaccharide for sweetness and 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Mix gently to combine everything. You can adjust the amount of oligosaccharide to your preference.
Step 5
Transfer the perfectly stir-fried dried shredded squid to a serving dish. Your delicious and appetizing Jinmichae Bokkeum is ready to be enjoyed! It’s great served immediately or can be cooled and stored in an airtight container for later.
