Main Ingredients

  • 1 handful of green chili peppers (approx. 150g)
  • 2 sheets of rectangular fish cakes (approx. 100g)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp grapeseed oil
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp corn syrup (or oligodang)
  • A little chopped green onion
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice)
  • A little toasted sesame seeds
  • A little sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the green peppers thoroughly under running water. Remove the stems and prick each pepper 2-3 times with a fork or toothpick. This allows the sauce to penetrate better, making them more flavorful.

Step 2

Cut the rectangular fish cakes into bite-sized pieces (about 2cm wide). You can also cut them lengthwise if you prefer.

Step 3

Heat 2 Tbsp of grapeseed oil in a wok or pan over medium heat. Add the prepared green peppers and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until they soften slightly and become fragrant. Don’t overcook them.

Step 4

Add the fish cakes, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp corn syrup, and 1/2 tsp minced garlic to the pan. Stir-fry together until the fish cakes are evenly coated with the sauce.

Step 5

Next, add 1 tsp red pepper flakes (if you want it spicier) and the chopped green onion. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are well combined with the sauce.

Step 6

Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in some toasted sesame seeds and sesame oil for added flavor. Stir well. Transfer the finished stir-fried green peppers and fish cakes to a serving dish and enjoy with a warm bowl of rice!
