Main Ingredients

  • 1 packet of ramen noodles
  • 1 handful of bean sprouts (approx. 50g)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic (or 3 cloves sliced garlic)
  • 1/4 onion
  • 2 strips of bacon

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s make the special sauce that will give your Yakiramen its amazing flavor. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp of sugar and 2.5 Tbsp of oyster sauce, mixing them well. The umami from the oyster sauce will create a delicious base when combined with the sugar.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, add 1.5 Tbsp of soy sauce and 1 Tbsp of ketchup to the mixture and stir again until well combined. The ketchup adds a tangy sweetness that further enhances the overall flavor. And there you have it – your delicious sauce is ready!

Step 2

Step 3

Now, it’s time to cook the ramen noodles. Set aside the flavor packet from the ramen. Cook only the noodles and the dried vegetable packet in boiling water until they are about 60-70% cooked. Boiling them slightly less than usual is key, as they will continue to cook when stir-fried.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add a little cooking oil. Add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic (or 3 cloves of sliced garlic) and sauté until fragrant. Once the garlic aroma is released, add the thinly sliced 1/4 onion and the 2 strips of bacon, cut into bite-sized pieces. Stir-fry everything together until the bacon is golden brown and the onions become translucent. Make sure to cook thoroughly.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the ingredients in the pan are sufficiently cooked, add the pre-boiled ramen noodles. Pour in about one ladleful of the ramen cooking water – this helps to keep the noodles moist and allows the sauce to meld beautifully. Add all the prepared sauce and gently stir-fry to coat the noodles and ingredients evenly.

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, add a handful of fresh bean sprouts. Bean sprouts are essential for adding a refreshing crunch and a clean flavor to your Yakiramen, so don’t skip them!

Step 6

Step 7

Stir-fry the bean sprouts just until they start to wilt slightly. Be careful not to overcook them, or they will lose their crispiness! Transfer the finished Yakiramen to a serving plate, making it look as appetizing as possible.

Step 7

Step 8

Now, let’s prepare a fried egg to make your Yakiramen even more special. Fry one egg to your preferred doneness (a runny yolk is recommended) and gently place it on top of the Yakiramen. The luscious yolk will blend with the noodles, creating a fantastic taste experience. For an extra touch, sprinkle a little dried parsley on top for a beautiful garnish. Your delicious and visually appealing Yakiramen is now complete!
