Spicy Gochujang Grilled Pork Belly
Deliciously Spicy and Sweet Gochujang Grilled Pork Belly
This is a favorite dish in our household, as my family loves both spicy food and pork belly. We frequently enjoy this recipe at home, and it’s always a hit!
Main Ingredients- Pork belly 500g
- 1 Onion, thinly sliced
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the pork belly into long, bite-sized pieces. This makes it easier to marinate evenly and cook perfectly.
Step 2
The key to this delicious spicy pork belly is the flavorful marinade! We’ll prepare it carefully to achieve a taste that rivals restaurant quality.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp gochugaru, 1 Tbsp maesilcheong, 1 tsp black pepper, and 1 tsp sesame seeds. Mix well with a spoon until the marinade is evenly combined. The maesilcheong adds a touch of sweetness, balances the spice, and gives a beautiful sheen.
Step 4
Add the prepared pork belly to the marinade. Using chopsticks or your hands, gently toss the pork belly until each piece is thoroughly coated with the marinade. For the best flavor, let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
Step 5
Look at that! The marinade has coated the pork belly beautifully. Get ready for a mouthwatering grilled dish!
Step 6
Thinly slice one onion into strips. The natural sweetness of the onion will wonderfully complement the spiciness of the pork.
Step 7
Add the sliced onions to the marinated pork belly and gently mix them together. The onions will release some moisture, further softening the marinade.
Step 8
I’m using a double-sided grill pan that I have at home, but you can certainly cook this in a regular frying pan too. Once the pan is heated, arrange the marinated pork belly and onions neatly on the surface.
Step 9
As the pork belly starts to brown, flip it occasionally, grilling the onions alongside. The onions will caramelize and add another layer of delicious flavor.
Step 10
And there you have it! Our spicy and sweet Gochujang Grilled Pork Belly is ready. It’s best enjoyed piping hot. Try serving it with fresh lettuce wraps for an extra burst of freshness!
