Spicy & Numbing Mala Ramen
A Delicious Fusion: The Popular Ramen Meets the Trendy Mala Flavor!
Are you tired of the same old instant ramen? If you’re looking for a flavor adventure, today’s Mala Ramen recipe is perfect for you! This recipe combines the comforting familiarity of ramen with the exciting, numbing heat of Sichuan mala. It’s an easy way to elevate your instant noodle game and create a truly satisfying meal.
Core Ingredients- 1 packet of instant ramen (choose your favorite)
- Water (according to ramen package instructions)
- Haotsu Mala Sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Bring the amount of water specified on the ramen package to a rolling boil in a pot over high heat. Once boiling, add the ramen noodles and cook according to package directions.
Step 2
Add about two-thirds of the ramen’s original soup base to the boiling water. Then, gradually stir in the Haotsu Mala Sauce, starting with a small amount and adding more until you reach your desired level of spiciness and numbing sensation. Taste as you go to find your perfect balance.
Step 3
While the noodles are cooking, add the minced garlic and thinly sliced onion to the pot. These aromatics will deepen the flavor of the broth and add a subtle sweetness.
Step 4
Continue to add more Mala Sauce if desired. Reduce the heat to medium and let the noodles cook until they are perfectly tender. If you like it extra spicy, you can toss in the dried bird’s eye chilies now. Add the julienned green bell pepper during this stage to retain its crispness.
Step 5
Just before the noodles are fully cooked, add the fresh bean sprouts. Cook for only about 30 seconds to 1 minute – you want them to be tender-crisp, not mushy. The bean sprouts add a refreshing crunch.
Step 6
Ladle the ramen into a bowl. Garnish generously with the chopped green onions. If you’re using other optional toppings like mushrooms or crown daisy, add them now. Your delicious and exciting Mala Ramen is ready to be enjoyed!
