Spicy Pork Stir-fry Donburi
Spicy Gochujang Pork Stir-fry Donburi [A Delicious One-Bowl Meal with a Perfect Kick!]
Spicy stir-fried pork dishes are always a hit as a side dish for rice, aren’t they? Today, I’ve prepared it as a delicious donburi, served over rice. It’s so enjoyable to mix a little bit of everything with your rice, and the flavor is fantastic. I often make donburi dishes because they are a convenient way to complete a meal without needing multiple side dishes, which I really appreciate. Plus, there’s less washing up to do, making it a truly beneficial menu item! This donburi, with its perfect balance of spicy, savory sauce and fresh vegetables, is a satisfying meal that’s both easy to prepare and incredibly tasty.
Main Ingredients- 300g Pork Shoulder or Loin, sliced into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 Onion, thinly sliced
- 2 Red chilies, sliced diagonally
- 2 Green chilies, sliced diagonally
- 1 Green onion (scallion), sliced diagonally
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
Seasoning Ingredients- 2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
- 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
- 2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
- 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s make the delicious seasoning sauce. In a large bowl, combine 2 Tbsp Gochujang, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp Doenjang, 1 Tbsp Gochugaru, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Mix thoroughly with a spoon until smooth and well combined. Ensuring there are no lumps is key to a perfectly blended sauce.
Step 2
Pour the prepared seasoning sauce generously over the pork slices and mix well to coat. Marinating the pork in the sauce beforehand allows the flavors to penetrate deeply, resulting in a much more delicious final dish. Think of it as letting the meat rest in the marinade. About 10 minutes of marinating is sufficient. While the pork is marinating, you can efficiently prepare the vegetables for the next steps.
Step 3
Now, let’s prepare the fresh vegetables for our donburi. Peel the onion and slice it thinly. Remove the seeds from the red and green chilies and slice them diagonally. Slice the green onion diagonally as well. This preparation ensures even cooking and a pleasant texture.
Step 4
Transfer the marinated pork to a frying pan or wok. Add all the prepared vegetables to the pan with the pork. Adding a generous amount of vegetables will enhance the texture and make the dish even more flavorful and nutritious.
Step 5
Now, stir-fry all the ingredients in the pan, mixing them evenly as they cook. Initially, the pan might seem dry, but as you stir-fry, the moisture from the vegetables and the juices from the pork will be released, creating a moist and appetizing stir-fry. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
Step 6
The spicy pork stir-fry you’ve just made is fantastic on its own as a side dish or a savory snack. However, today we’re turning it into a delightful donburi by serving it over rice. Because we’ve used plenty of vegetables, the sauce is nicely saucy. Ladle the mixture generously over a bowl of warm rice and mix everything together – it’s absolutely delicious! This spicy pork stir-fry donburi is a perfect example of a satisfying and flavorful meal that’s easy to prepare. I highly recommend giving it a try!
