Essential Ingredients

  • 1/2 stalk Green onion
  • 2 Onions
  • 4 Potatoes
  • 3 cloves Garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the vegetables for the dish. You’ll need about 1/2 stalk of green onion, 2 onions, 4 potatoes, and 3 cloves of garlic. Having your vegetables prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.

Step 1

Step 2

Peel the potatoes and slice them into half-moon shapes, about 0.5cm thick. Slicing them too thinly might cause them to break apart while stir-frying, so a moderate thickness is best. Coarsely chop the onions into strips. Slice the green onion lengthwise in half, then cut it into pieces similar in size to the potatoes. Mince the 3 cloves of garlic finely. Place all these prepared vegetables into a stir-frying pan.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s start stir-frying! Drizzle about 3-4 rounds of cooking oil into the pan (approximately 2-3 tablespoons). Once the oil is heated, add 3 tablespoons of gochugaru and 0.5 tablespoon of coarse sea salt. Stir-fry over high heat for about 3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the gochugaru, and stir-fry until the vegetables are evenly coated with color.

Step 3

Step 4

After stir-frying over high heat for about 3 minutes, reduce the heat to medium. Now, add 2 tablespoons of oligodang for sweetness and continue to stir-fry for about 2 more minutes, until the potatoes become tender. You can use sugar instead of oligodang, or adjust the sweetness and saltiness with soy sauce.

Step 4

Step 5

After an additional 2 minutes of stir-frying, turn off the heat. Finally, sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top to enhance the flavor of the potato stir-fry. Give everything a gentle mix while the pan is still hot to combine the ingredients.

Step 5

Step 6

Voilà! Your appetizing spicy red potato stir-fry is complete! This is the perfect side dish to make you finish your bowl of rice in no time. Enjoy it right away!
