Key Ingredients- 1 pack Neoguri ramen
- 1 pack Jjajangmyeon ramen
- 1.5 bowls of cooked rice (warm, freshly cooked rice is best)
- 1/6 onion
- 1/2 stalk green onion
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- A little olive oil (or cooking oil)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your vegetables. Finely chop the green onion and coarsely mince the onion. This will enhance the vegetables’ aroma and flavor when stir-fried.
Step 2
Now, let’s prepare the ramen noodles for the fried rice. Place the noodles from both ramen packs into separate zip-top bags. Crush them into small pieces using a rolling pin or your hands. This step ensures the noodles mix evenly with the rice, creating a more satisfying texture.
Step 3
It’s time to cook the ramen. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the crushed noodles from both Neoguri and Jjajangmyeon, along with the dried vegetable flakes. Cook them slightly less than the package instructions suggest. Drain the noodles in a colander, but reserve about 1-2 tablespoons of the cooking water. This water will add moisture and flavor to your fried rice.
Step 4
Let’s build the base of our fried rice. Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped green onion and minced onion, and stir-fry until fragrant and softened. Once the vegetables are translucent, add the cooked ramen noodles and the rice. Stir and break up any clumps of rice with a spatula, mixing everything together.
Step 5
Finally, it’s time to bring it all together! Add the soup base from the Neoguri ramen (for spice) and the Jjajangmyeon ramen (for savory depth) to the pan. Stir-fry thoroughly, ensuring the rice and noodles are evenly coated with the sauces. Just before you’re finished, lay the 2 slices of cheddar cheese on top and let them melt from the residual heat. The melted cheese will add a creamy richness, completing your spectacular fusion fried rice!
