Spicy & Sweet Basella Spinach Salad Recipe
Quick & Delicious Basella Spinach Salad with Gochujang Sauce
A delightful side dish made by mixing fresh Basella spinach with a savory gochujang sauce! This simple yet delicious recipe is perfect for a quick and flavorful addition to your meals.
Ingredients- 1 bunch Basella spinach
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the Basella spinach thoroughly. Trim off any wilted leaves, thick stems, or unsightly parts. Removing these ensures the freshest and most pleasant texture. Fresh ingredients are the foundation of a great dish!
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the prepared Basella spinach and blanch for about 3 minutes. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become mushy. Immediately rinse the blanched spinach under cold running water to stop the cooking process. Drain well, squeezing out as much water as possible. Using a salad spinner or gently wringing it out with your hands will ensure excess water is removed, resulting in a crispier salad.
Step 3
Once the water is removed, cut the Basella spinach into bite-sized pieces. Cutting them into lengths of about 3-4 cm (1.5 inches) will provide a better texture than very short pieces.
Step 4
In a large bowl, combine the prepared Basella spinach with the seasoning ingredients: gochujang, minced garlic, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds. Gently mix everything together with your hands, ensuring the dressing coats the spinach evenly. The key is to mix gently to avoid mashing the delicate leaves.
Step 5
Arrange the beautifully mixed Basella spinach salad in a serving dish. This delicious side dish is now ready to be enjoyed with your favorite meals!
