Main Ingredients

  • Leftover Tteokbokki (about 1 serving)
  • Jeyuk-bokkeum (pre-marinated stir-fried pork) 200g
  • Anchovy broth or water 1/2 cup (approx. 100ml)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your leftover tteokbokki. (Note: Eggs are not used in this recipe, so set them aside if you have them.)

Step 1

Step 2

In a bowl, combine the 200g of jeyuk-bokkeum with 1/2 ladle of the all-purpose onion garlic paste, 3 Tbsp of the all-purpose spicy sauce, 1 Tbsp of healthy cooking syrup, 1 Tbsp of sesame oil, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything well until the pork is evenly coated with the seasonings.

Step 2

Step 3

Put on a pair of disposable gloves and gently knead the mixture. This ‘jiggle-jiggle’ motion helps the marinade penetrate the pork, making it more flavorful.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the leftover tteokbokki and fish cakes (if using) first. Pour in 1/2 cup of anchovy broth or water and cook until the rice cakes become soft and chewy. Then, add the marinated jeyuk-bokkeum to the pan and stir-fry together.

Step 4

Step 5

Now for the stir-frying technique! While cooking, gently move the pan back and forth, using a wrist flicking motion to toss the ingredients. Keep the mixture moist by adding a little more broth or water if the sauce becomes too dry. This ensures a tender texture and prevents sticking.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the jeyuk-bokkeum is fully cooked and the flavors have melded beautifully with the tteokbokki, your dish is ready! Sprinkle generously with toasted sesame seeds for an extra nutty aroma and visual appeal. Enjoy your delicious Jeyuk Tteokbokki!
