Main Ingredients- 1 pack (approx. 1kg) chicken pieces for stew
- 3 cups milk
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Today, we’re making crispy on the outside and tender on the inside chicken, marinated in a galbi-inspired sauce. We’ll add Cheongyang peppers, which are very popular right now, to create a delightful sweet, savory, and spicy flavor profile that everyone will love! Let’s get started on this delicious Galbi Chicken!
Step 2
First, thoroughly wash the chicken pieces under running water. To remove any gamey smell and tenderize the meat, soak the chicken in 3 cups of milk for about 30 minutes to an hour. After soaking, if you notice any reddish liquid coming out, rinse the chicken clean and pat it dry.
Step 3
Now, let’s prepare the flavorful Galbi marinade. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Finely chop 5 Cheongyang peppers and add them to the mix. The chilies will add a pleasant kick, giving the marinade a deep flavor reminiscent of traditional Galbi sauce. Whisk these ingredients together until well combined.
Step 4
Add the milk-soaked chicken pieces to the prepared Galbi marinade and gently toss to coat evenly. If you like, you can add a little cooking oil at this stage; it can help create a crispier coating. Let the chicken marinate for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Flip the chicken halfway through marinating to ensure the sauce penetrates deeply for maximum flavor.
Step 5
Arrange the marinated chicken pieces in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and cook for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, flip the chicken pieces over to the other side and cook for another 15 minutes at 180°C (350°F). This two-stage cooking will result in a crispy exterior and a juicy interior.
Step 6
Be cautious with the temperature; since the chicken is already marinated, cooking at too high a heat for too long can cause the outside to burn before the inside is cooked through. This spicy and sweet Galbi chicken is incredibly tender and juicy inside, with a wonderful appetite-stimulating spicy flavor. It’s a perfect nutritious snack for kids and an excellent appetizer or side dish for adults!
