Main Ingredients

  • 200g Pickled Deodeok (Deodeok Jangajji)

Seasoning

  • 2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Sesame Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Gochugaru (Korean chili powder, fine)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your deodeok pickles that have been properly fermented for 3 days. Carefully remove the deodeok from the pickling liquid and separate them. (If you need a reminder on how to pickle deodeok, please refer to our previous recipe! ^^)

In a bowl, combine the separated pickled deodeok with all the seasoning ingredients: gochujang, sugar, minced garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil, and gochugaru. Gently toss everything together with your hands until the deodeok is evenly coated with the sauce. Be careful not to knead too vigorously, as this can break down the deodeok’s texture; mix gently.

Transfer the well-mixed gochujang deodeok salad to a serving dish. Sprinkle with additional sesame seeds for an extra nutty flavor and appealing finish. While it’s delicious to eat immediately, allowing it to chill in the refrigerator for a bit will further enhance its rich taste.
