Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Jjolmyeon is a favorite for both kids and adults! If you have jjolmyeon noodles on hand, you can easily enjoy that authentic street food stall flavor at home anytime. You won’t regret following this recipe.

Step 2

First, let’s prepare the hard-boiled eggs, the perfect companion to jjolmyeon. Fill a pot with plenty of water, add the eggs, and boil for about 10-12 minutes until fully cooked. Once done, rinse them under cold water to cool. Next, thinly julienne the carrot. Trim the ends of the cucumber and slice it thinly into rounds or julienne it. Thinly shred the cabbage as well. Prepare all these vegetables by slicing them.

Step 3

Arrange the sliced vegetables attractively on a plate and set them aside. Having these prepped beforehand will make mixing the jjolmyeon much easier later on.

Step 4

Now it’s time to cook the jjolmyeon noodles. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil and add the jjolmyeon noodles. Cook according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain the noodles in a colander and rinse them thoroughly under cold running water to remove excess starch and achieve a springy texture. Drain them completely and place them in a bowl. While the noodles are cooking, let’s make the jjolmyeon sauce. In a small bowl, combine 2 tsp of vinegar, 2 tsp of sugar, 1 tsp of gochugaru, and 3 tsp of gochujang. Mix well until the sauce is fully combined. It’s important to use the correct ratios for that perfect sweet, spicy, and tangy flavor.

Step 5

Place the cooked jjolmyeon noodles in a serving bowl. Top with the halved hard-boiled eggs and the neatly arranged julienned cucumber, carrot, and cabbage. Drizzle the prepared sauce over everything. You can adjust the amount of sauce to your liking. Finally, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top for garnish. Your delicious, tangy, and spicy jjolmyeon is ready! Mix it all up and enjoy your meal!
