Optional Ingredients (for extra flavor!)- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise (to mellow the spice and add creaminess)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly drain the oil from the canned tuna. Place the drained tuna in a bowl. Draining the oil well will result in a cleaner, more delicate flavor.
Step 2
Add all the seasoning ingredients to the bowl with the tuna. Mix in 2 Tbsp gochujang, 4 Tbsp finely minced onion, 4 Tbsp finely chopped dill pickles, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, 0.5 Tbsp sugar, and 0.5 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Stir until everything is well combined. If you prefer a milder flavor or are making this for children, adding 1 Tbsp of mayonnaise will help balance the spiciness and add a creamy texture. (Tip: My children preferred it with the mayonnaise added!)
Step 3
For those who enjoy a spicier kick, consider adding some finely chopped Cheongyang peppers at this stage. This will add a pleasant, sharp heat that enhances the overall flavor.
Step 4
Prepare a microwave-safe or oven-safe dish. Spread 1 bowl of warm cooked rice evenly across the bottom of the dish. It’s important to gently spread the rice so it doesn’t clump together.
Step 5
Carefully spoon the seasoned tuna mixture evenly over the rice, ensuring it covers the rice as much as possible. Try to spread it out smoothly so it forms a nice layer.
Step 6
Now, generously sprinkle your desired amount of mozzarella cheese over the tuna mixture! The more cheese you add, the more irresistible and savory the dish will be. Heat in the microwave or oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly. (Tip: You can also mix the rice and tuna beforehand, place them in the dish, and then top with cheese before heating.)
Step 7
Garnish with a sprinkle of shredded seaweed (gim) for an even more appetizing finish! This Spicy Tuna Mayo Rice Bowl is best enjoyed immediately while warm, savoring the delightful combination of melted cheese and the spicy-sweet tuna seasoning.
