Square Fish Cake Mayo Salad
A Quick and Flavorful Square Fish Cake Mayo Salad
Today, I’m bringing you a side dish that you can whip up in no time! We’ll blanch the fish cakes to remove any excess oil, then toss them in a creamy mayonnaise dressing, making it almost like a salad. It’s a simple yet delicious way to enjoy fish cakes.
Ingredients- 4 sheets of square fish cake
Dressing- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp flying fish roe (optional)
- Pinch of black pepper
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp flying fish roe (optional)
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
While 500ml of water comes to a boil, let’s get the other ingredients ready.
Step 2
In a bowl, add 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise.
Step 3
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar for a touch of sweetness.
Step 4
Stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice for a bright, zesty flavor.
Step 5
For a fun pop of texture, add 1 tablespoon of flying fish roe. (You can omit this if you don’t have it or prefer not to use it.)
Step 6
Finally, add a pinch of black pepper to enhance the flavors. Whisk everything together until the dressing is smooth and well combined. This makes our delicious mayo dressing!
Step 7
Once the water is boiling, carefully add the 4 sheets of square fish cake and blanch them for about 20 seconds. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy.
Step 8
Immediately remove the blanched fish cakes from the water and drain them in a colander.
Step 9
Gently pat the fish cakes dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture ensures the dressing adheres well.
Step 10
Once dry, slice the fish cakes into bite-sized strips. You can cut them thinly for easier eating, especially for children.
Step 11
Add the sliced fish cakes to the bowl with the prepared dressing. Toss gently to coat each piece evenly. And just like that, your delicious fish cake mayo salad is ready!
Step 12
I finished it off with some arugula on top! (My arugula was a bit frozen that day, oops!). Adding fresh greens can elevate the dish even further.
Step 13
If you find the seasoning is lacking, you can adjust it with a pinch of salt. I included the flying fish roe for its delightful popping texture, but feel free to leave it out if it’s not to your preference.
Step 14
Wishing you a wonderful meal filled with delicious food today!
