Ingredients
- Rice 16g
- Chestnuts 13g
- Water 330ml
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 3-4 hours. Soaking the rice well will result in a smoother puree.
Step 2
Select fresh chestnuts and peel them carefully, removing both the outer shell and the inner skin. It’s important to remove the inner skin as it can sometimes have a bitter taste.
Step 3
Place the prepared chestnuts in a steamer basket over boiling water. Steam until the chestnuts are completely tender, easily pierced with a fork. This ensures they are soft enough to puree.
Step 4
In a blender, combine the soaked rice, steamed chestnuts, and 180ml of water. Blend until very smooth, ensuring no rice grains are visible. A fine puree is key for easy digestion.
Step 5
Transfer the smooth chestnut and rice mixture to a pot. Add the remaining 150ml of water and stir well. Prepare to cook over low heat.
Step 6
Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. Once it begins to simmer, reduce the heat to very low and continue cooking for about 5-7 minutes, or until the puree becomes sticky and slightly translucent. Continuous stirring is essential.
Step 7
Remove the pot from the heat and let the chestnut puree cool slightly. Pass it through a fine-mesh sieve multiple times while it’s still warm to achieve an exceptionally smooth texture that’s easy for your baby to swallow.
Step 8
Your delicious and nutritious chestnut puree, full of natural sweetness, is ready for your baby!
Step 9
Divide the finished puree into portions of 70ml each, suitable for 3 days of feeding. Store in airtight containers or baby food cubes in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Step 10
This chestnut puree is so tasty, I even tried it myself! It’s naturally sweeter than apples, making it a big hit with babies. Can’t wait to make the next batch!
