Main Ingredients- Beef 300g (e.g., bulgogi cut, sirloin, or your preference)
- Bean Sprouts 200g
- Carrot 1/3
- Onion 1/4
- Green Onion 1/2 stalk
- Minced Garlic 1/2 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the beef. To remove any gamey odor, gently pat the beef dry with paper towels to absorb excess moisture. (Alternatively, you can lightly rinse the beef if preferred). Slice the beef into bite-sized pieces.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 Tbsp olive oil, garlic salt (or regular salt), and ground pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for a few minutes. This step enhances the beef’s flavor and tenderizes it.
Step 3
Prepare the vegetables. Finely chop the green onion. Julienne the onion and carrot into strips similar in length to the beef. For added color and texture, consider adding bell peppers or pimientos, also julienned.
Step 4
Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil (or vegetable oil) in a pan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped green onion. Sauté gently until fragrant, allowing the aroma of garlic and green onion to release.
Step 5
Once the garlic and green onion are aromatic, add the marinated beef to the pan. Increase the heat to medium-high. Break up the beef with your cooking utensil as it cooks, stir-frying quickly until the exterior is browned. Proceed to the next step once the beef is mostly cooked.
Step 6
Now, add the julienned onion and carrot to the pan. Stir-fry along with the beef until the vegetables are slightly tender.
Step 7
Finally, add the thoroughly washed bean sprouts. Once the bean sprouts are in, pour in 1 Tbsp of savory soy sauce (or regular soy sauce or oyster sauce). Stir-fry rapidly over high heat. It’s crucial not to overcook the bean sprouts; keeping them crisp is key to the dish’s delightful texture.
Step 8
Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in a little sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Give it one final gentle toss to combine all the ingredients. Your delicious Stir-fried Beef with Bean Sprouts is ready!
