Simple and Delicious Stir-Fried King Oyster Mushrooms
We usually grill king oyster mushrooms with meat, but today we’re trying a simple stir-fry with just a few seasonings, and it turned out to be a fantastic side dish for rice! The chewy texture and savory flavor make this dish a hit with everyone.
Main Ingredients
- 1 King Oyster Mushroom
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- A little cooking oil
Seasoning Ingredients
- 1/2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (Guk-ganjang type)
- 1/2 Tbsp Oligodang (Korean corn syrup)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 tsp Doubanjiang (Spicy Bean Paste)
- 1/2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (Guk-ganjang type)
- 1/2 Tbsp Oligodang (Korean corn syrup)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 tsp Doubanjiang (Spicy Bean Paste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the king oyster mushrooms thoroughly and pat them dry. Slice the stems into large, chunky pieces, about 0.5 cm thick. Slicing them too thinly might make them mushy when stir-fried, so aim for a slightly thicker cut for a nice chewy texture.
Step 2
Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Ensure the oil thinly coats the entire surface of the pan. Add all the prepared king oyster mushroom pieces to the pan.
Step 3
Maintain medium-low heat and stir-fry the mushrooms slowly. It’s important to cook them until the surfaces turn golden brown and some moisture evaporates, enhancing their chewy texture. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Step 4
Once the mushrooms are nicely browned, add all the prepared seasoning ingredients to the pan: 1/2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce, 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce, 1/2 Tbsp Oligodang, 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic, and 1 tsp Doubanjiang.
Step 5
Quickly stir-fry everything to ensure the sauce coats the mushrooms evenly. Be mindful of the heat as the sauce can burn easily. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until a delicious aroma fills the air.
Step 6
Transfer the well-stir-fried king oyster mushrooms to a serving plate. Sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds on top for added nutty flavor. This dish is a wonderful side, but it’s also perfect served over a bowl of hot rice for a simple and satisfying one-dish meal!
