Main Ingredients

  • Glass noodles: Appropriate amount (approx. 1-2 servings)
  • Tteokbokki rice cakes: 8 pieces (or as desired)
  • Green onions: A little, chopped

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, soak the glass noodles thoroughly in cold water. For the rice cakes, lightly rinse them to maintain their chewy texture. In a wide pan or pot, add the soaked glass noodles and rinsed rice cakes. Pour in 1.5 paper cups of water (about 270ml). It’s crucial to keep the heat on low at this stage. Stir gently to prevent the glass noodles from sticking to the bottom.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, add the key to the flavor: 2.5 tablespoons of bottled galbi sauce. Since bottled sauces can vary in saltiness and flavor, it’s recommended to start with 2 tablespoons, taste, and then add an additional 0.5 tablespoon increments to your preference. Adjust the sweetness and saltiness to find your perfect balance!

Step 2

Step 3

Continue to cook over low heat, slowly simmering until the sauce evenly coats the glass noodles and rice cakes. Cook until the glass noodles are tender and the rice cakes are soft, and the sauce has thickened. Remember to stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 3

Step 4

Finally, add the chopped green onions and toss gently to combine. The crisp texture and aroma of the green onions will enhance the flavor even further. It’s best to finish with a little bit of sauce remaining, rather than letting it dry out completely, so the noodles and cakes remain moist. Turn off the heat and enjoy your delicious dish!
