Delicious mini kimbap made with simple ingredients! It’s so easy to make, and kids will have a blast rolling their own. Perfect for a fun snack or a light meal.
Main Ingredients- 1 pack imitation crab sticks (approx. 100g)
- 1 pack kimbap ham (approx. 100g)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 medium carrot
- 2 sheets kimbap seaweed
- 3 bowls cooked rice (warm)
Seasoning & Condiments- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the kimbap ham into shorter pieces, roughly half the length, to fit the size of mini kimbap. Lightly oil a pan and stir-fry the ham over medium-low heat until it’s lightly golden brown. This enhances its flavor.
Step 2
Similarly, cut the imitation crab sticks in half to match the ham’s length. Then, lightly stir-fry them in a pan over low heat. Stir-frying prevents them from breaking apart and improves their texture.
Step 3
Wash and peel the carrot, then julienne it thinly. Heat a little oil in a pan, add the julienned carrots, and stir-fry them with a pinch of salt. Cook just until they are slightly tender but still crisp. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become mushy.
Step 4
Crack the 2 eggs into a bowl, add a tiny pinch of salt, and whisk well to break up the eggyolk strings. Heat a non-stick pan over low heat and cook thin omelets. Once cooked, let them cool slightly. Then, cut them into strips similar in length to the ham, or into 2-3 pieces. (Folding the omelet in half before cutting makes it easier to roll later.)
Step 5
In a bowl with the warm cooked rice, add a pinch of salt, 1/2 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Gently mix with a rice paddle, being careful not to mash the rice grains. Ensure everything is evenly combined. Let it sit for a moment to let the sesame oil flavor infuse the rice.
Step 6
Cut the kimbap seaweed sheets into quarters. Spread a thin layer of the seasoned rice onto one quarter of a seaweed sheet. Place the prepared ham, crab sticks, carrots, and egg strips evenly over the rice. Avoid using too much rice, as it can cause the roll to break. Roll the kimbap tightly, then cut it into bite-sized mini rolls.
Step 7
Your delicious mini kimbap, made with simple ingredients, is ready! For an extra touch, sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top. Enjoy a fun cooking session with your kids and savor your homemade mini kimbap!
