Main Ingredients
  • 400g Beef for Bulgogi (sirloin, tenderloin, or your preferred cut)
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1/4 Carrot
  • 1/2 Green Onion

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gently press the beef slices with paper towels to remove any excess blood. Removing the blood thoroughly helps prevent any off-putting smells and ensures a clean flavor.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine 12 Tbsp soy sauce, 4 Tbsp sugar, 3 Tbsp minced garlic, 2 Tbsp corn syrup, 1 Tbsp plum extract, a pinch of black pepper, and 1 Tbsp sesame oil. Mix these marinade ingredients well until fully combined. Add the beef slices to the marinade and gently toss to coat. Let it marinate for a while.

Step 3

While the beef is marinating, prepare your vegetables. Thinly slice the onion, cut the carrot into half-moon shapes, and slice the green onion diagonally. These cuts are perfect for easy eating.

Step 4

Although I intended to cook it right away, something came up, so I placed the marinated beef in the refrigerator and added the vegetables the next day. Typically, you can simply slice the vegetables and mix them in immediately after marinating the beef. Marinating for about a day will make the beef even more tender and the flavors deeper.

Step 5

Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and all the prepared vegetables to the pan. Stir-fry until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent burning. It’s really that simple!

Step 6

And there you have it – perfectly cooked Beef Bulgogi! Usually, Bulgogi marinades include grated pear or apple to add sweetness and tenderize the meat, but this recipe is deliciously tender and flavorful even without fruit. You can create a wonderful meal with simple ingredients! It’s absolutely delicious served over a bowl of hot rice!
