Super Simple & Delicious Fried Tofu Pocket Sushi Recipe
Easy and Quick Recipe for Delicious Fried Tofu Pocket Sushi (Inarizushi) that Kids Love!
Today, I prepared some Inarizushi, a perfect snack or meal for children. I used ‘On-Leaf Price Easy Tofu for Sushi Rice’ purchased from Lotte Mall. It comes with 2 servings (32 tofu pockets) and the tofu is of great quality and tastes wonderful!^^
Main Ingredients- Easy Fried Tofu Pockets for Sushi Rice (1 pack, 380g)
- 1.5 servings of cooked sushi rice
- 1 slice of Spam
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare one pack of the easy fried tofu pockets for sushi rice that you purchased from the mart. You can use them either straight from the bag or after separating them if individually packaged.
Step 2
Cook the rice until it’s fluffy and not sticky. Mixing short-grain rice with a bit of barley adds a healthier touch and a pleasant texture. Ensure the rice is not too moist; a slightly firm, fluffy consistency is best for making Inarizushi.
Step 3
Warm up one slice of Spam by microwaving it for about 40 seconds. Warming it beforehand enhances its flavor when mixed with the rice and makes it easier to mash.
Step 4
Transfer 1.5 servings of the warm cooked rice into a large bowl. Add the warmed Spam, the included vegetable mix from the Inarizushi kit, and gently squeeze out any excess liquid from the tofu pockets before adding them. Finally, add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Using a spatula, mash the Spam while mixing everything thoroughly until well combined.
Step 5
Wearing disposable gloves for hygiene, carefully stuff the prepared seasoned rice into each tofu pocket. Don’t overfill them; gently shape them to maintain the tofu’s characteristic pocket form.
Step 6
For children who aren’t fond of tofu pockets, you can simply make a few small, round rice balls using only the seasoned rice mixture, omitting the tofu. Shaping them into fun forms can encourage picky eaters to enjoy them more!
