Quail Egg Jorim Ingredients- 1 package (approx. 200-250g) pre-cooked quail eggs
- 300ml water
- 2 Tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce (brewed or regular)
- 1 Tbsp Yeondu (Korean seasoning sauce, substitute with Guk-ganjang or fish sauce if unavailable)
- 1 stalk green onion (white part mainly)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare one package of pre-cooked quail eggs. Rinse them lightly under running water to remove any debris. If peeling the eggs is a hassle, we recommend buying pre-peeled quail eggs.
Step 2
Place all the rinsed quail eggs into a pot. Add 300ml of water, enough to just cover the eggs.
Step 3
Add 2 tablespoons of sugar for sweetness. You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your preference. If you like it sweeter, feel free to add another 1/2 tablespoon.
Step 4
Pour in 3 tablespoons of soy sauce to enhance the savory flavor of the quail eggs. You can use regular brewed soy sauce or regular soy sauce.
Step 5
Add 1 tablespoon of Yeondu (Korean seasoning sauce) for added depth and flavor. If you don’t have Yeondu, you can substitute with a little bit of Guk-ganjang (Korean soup soy sauce) or fish sauce.
Step 6
Lastly, prepare one stalk of green onion for a refreshing and clean taste. Finely chop the white part of the green onion. The green parts have a strong flavor, so you can use a small amount or omit them if you prefer.
Step 7
Now, place the pot with all the ingredients over medium heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for about 3-5 minutes. Gently stir the eggs with a spoon occasionally to help the marinade penetrate evenly.
Step 8
After simmering, turn off the heat and let the pot cool down completely. While delicious when warm, the flavors deepen even more as the sauce seeps into the quail eggs while cooling.
Step 9
Transfer the finished quail egg jorim to a nice serving dish. Serve it over hot rice for a satisfying meal.
Step 10
Store any leftover quail egg jorim in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can be kept for 2-3 days and enjoyed over time. Enjoy your delicious quail egg jorim made with this super simple recipe and have a wonderful mealtime!
