Main Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of warm cooked rice (approx. 200g)
  • 10 frozen boiled dumplings
  • 10cm length of green onion
  • Cooking oil, as needed

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Start with the frozen boiled dumplings directly, no need to thaw. Use scissors or a knife to finely chop them, ensuring the wrapper doesn’t tear too much. If the filling is clumped, use chopsticks or a fork to loosen it for even cooking.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the green onion and thinly slice both the white and green parts. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced green onion and sauté slowly until fragrant, developing a delicious scallion oil without burning. This step infuses the oil with the sweet aroma and flavor of the onion, significantly enhancing the fried rice.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the scallion oil is aromatic, add the chopped frozen dumplings to the pan with the onions. Stir-fry the dumplings until they are lightly golden brown. Be careful not to overcook, as this can make the dumpling wrappers tough. Once the dumplings start to become slightly crisp and golden, proceed to the next step.

Step 3

Step 4

Add the bowl of warm cooked rice to the pan with the dumplings and green onions. Using a spatula, break up the rice and stir-fry everything together until well combined. Ensure the rice grains are separated and don’t stick to the bottom of the pan by continuously stirring. This ensures each grain of rice is coated with the flavors of the ingredients.

Step 4

Step 5

To boost the savory flavor, pour 1 Tbsp of soy sauce around the edges of the pan. The soy sauce will caramelize slightly from the heat, adding a wonderful depth of flavor. Quickly toss and stir everything together to distribute the soy sauce evenly throughout the rice and dumplings. Stir-fry for about 1 minute to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 5

Step 6

Just before turning off the heat, stir in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil and a pinch of black pepper for an extra layer of aroma. Transfer the finished fried rice to a serving plate. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top for added crunch and visual appeal. Enjoy your delicious frozen dumpling fried rice while it’s hot!
