Main Ingredients
  • 8-10 Chicken wings
  • 1 Tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp Cooking oil

Seasoning Sauce
  • 2-3 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Water
  • Pinch of Black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by thoroughly rinsing the chicken wings under cold running water. Pat them dry with a paper towel. Next, make 2-3 shallow scores on both sides of each wing using a sharp knife. These cuts help the marinade penetrate deeper into the meat and keep the chicken juicy as it cooks.

Step 2

Evenly coat the prepared chicken wings with 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour. Gently toss them to ensure a thin, uniform coating. This flour layer will help achieve a wonderfully crispy exterior when pan-fried. If excess flour sticks, gently shake off the extra.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the floured chicken wings in the pan. Pan-fry them for about 7-10 minutes on each side, or until they turn a beautiful golden brown and are cooked through. This ensures the inside is cooked and the outside is delightfully crisp.

Step 4

While the chicken is cooking, whisk together the sauce ingredients: 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons mirin, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic, and 2 tablespoons water. Once the chicken wings are mostly cooked, push them to one side of the pan and pour the mixed sauce into the cleared space. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium-high heat. Toss the chicken wings to coat them evenly with the sauce and let it reduce, glazing the wings until they are glossy and sticky. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning.

Step 5

For the final touch! Once the sauce has thickened and coats the wings beautifully, season with a pinch of black pepper and sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds. Toss gently to combine. These super simple pan-fried chicken wings make an excellent side dish for rice or a delicious snack. Enjoy your flavorful creation!
