My family absolutely loves seaweed! Since I received a generous gift of many packs of seaweed, I’ve been busy making various dishes with it. Today, I’m sharing my go-to recipe for super simple seasoned seaweed, which is a huge hit. It’s so delicious it’ll make you finish a bowl of rice in no time!

First, you’ll need 20 sheets of raw seaweed (gim). Using raw seaweed will result in a crispier and more flavorful seasoned dish compared to pre-roasted seaweed.

Now, let’s toast the seaweed. Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Place all 20 sheets of seaweed in the pan and toast them over low heat, stirring gently and constantly, until they turn a vibrant, fresh green color. This should only take about 2-3 minutes. You’ll notice a delicious nutty aroma as they toast.

Once the seaweed is nicely toasted, it’s time to break it into bite-sized pieces. Carefully place all 20 toasted seaweed sheets into a sealable plastic bag.

Seal the bag tightly and then gently crush the seaweed inside using your hands. Avoid crushing it too finely; leaving some texture will make the seasoned seaweed more enjoyable to eat.

Next, we’ll prepare the flavorful seasoning sauce. In a bowl, combine the finely chopped green onion with all the seasoning ingredients: 5 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 2 Tbsp crushed sesame seeds, 3 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1 Tbsp rice wine. We’re almost there! Pour the prepared seasoning sauce evenly over the crushed seaweed in the bowl. Ensure the sauce coats the seaweed well for maximum flavor.
