Super Simple Stir-fried Cutlassfish Recipe
Quick & Delicious Stir-fried Cutlassfish with Minimal Ingredients!
I bought a bounty of fresh seafood, and among them was some cutlassfish sashimi that ended up in the freezer, overshadowed by other items. The next day, I decided to transform it into a delightful stir-fry! This recipe is wonderfully flavorful using simple ingredients. It’s perfect as a side dish for drinks or a hearty meal with rice. ^^
Main Ingredients
- 2 Cutlassfish (sashimi-grade or fresh)
- 1/2 Onion
- 1/2 Green Onion (scallion)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
Sauce Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (Korean ‘jin’ soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp Plum Extract (Maesil Cheong)
- 1 Tbsp Oligosaccharide
- 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (Korean ‘jin’ soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp Plum Extract (Maesil Cheong)
- 1 Tbsp Oligosaccharide
- 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thaw the 2 cutlassfish (sashimi) that were stored in the freezer. You can do this by placing them in cold water or leaving them at room temperature. (Using fresh cutlassfish is also fine; if so, clean them thoroughly.)
Step 2
Prepare all the main and sauce ingredients. In a small bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients and mix them well beforehand. Thinly slice the onion and cut the green onion diagonally.
Step 3
Heat about 1-2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a lightly preheated pan. Add the sliced green onions and stir-fry over medium-low heat until fragrant. Infusing the oil with green onion aroma will add a deeper flavor.
Step 4
Once the green onions start to release their aroma, add the sliced onions and stir-fry together. Cook until the onions become slightly translucent.
Step 5
As the onions turn translucent, add the prepared cutlassfish to the pan and stir-fry quickly. At this stage, add 1 Tbsp of sugar to help tenderize the cutlassfish and add a touch of sweetness as it cooks.
Step 6
Once the cutlassfish is lightly cooked, pour in the pre-mixed sauce. Toss everything together to ensure the ingredients are evenly coated with the sauce. Reduce the heat to medium-low to prevent the sauce from burning and stir-fry quickly until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.
Step 7
When all the ingredients are well combined and deliciously stir-fried, turn off the heat. Transfer the finished stir-fried cutlassfish to a serving plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired for a final touch. (Many recipes typically include minced garlic, but this one is delicious even without it! Enjoy it as an excellent appetizer or a satisfying meal with rice.)
