Main Ingredients- 2 packs of square fish cakes (Odeng), approx. 400g
- 1/2 onion
Seasoning Ingredients- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
- 20ml water (about 2 Tbsp)
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil (about 1 tsp)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
- 20ml water (about 2 Tbsp)
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil (about 1 tsp)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, add 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil to a pan. Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté over low heat until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic; gently stir-frying it is the key.
Step 2
Once the garlic is fragrant, add 20ml of water. Then, add the sliced onion and the fish cakes (cut into bite-sized pieces) and stir-fry together. Sauté for about 1 minute until the ingredients are slightly cooked. Immediately add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of oligosaccharide, stirring to combine the sauce well. Keep the heat on medium-low.
Step 3
Continue to stir-fry for about 3 more minutes, allowing the sauce to evenly coat the fish cakes and onions. Stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from burning. If you prefer a moister dish, you can add a little more water.
Step 4
Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 0.5 tablespoon of sesame oil to add a nutty aroma. Adding sesame oil at the end helps preserve its flavor and enhances the taste.
Step 5
Finally, before transferring to a serving plate, sprinkle generously with sesame seeds. The nutty flavor of the seeds will elevate the dish. Now, enjoy your delicious stir-fried fish cakes with a bowl of warm rice!
