Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Following along with the attached video will make this process even easier and more fun! 😊

Step 2

Soak the rice cake slices in cold water for about 15-20 minutes until they become soft and pliable. While the rice cakes are soaking, julienne the carrot and chop the green onion. If you like a bit of heat, you can add chopped green chili pepper.

Step 3

Pour 600ml of water into a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, add the prepared carrot and green onion. Season the broth with 1 Tbsp of soup soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of minced garlic, and 1/2 Tbsp of salt.

Step 4

When the broth returns to a boil, add the soaked rice cake slices and frozen dumplings. Let it simmer over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, or until the rice cakes are tender and the dumplings are cooked through. They are ready when the rice cakes are soft and the dumplings float to the surface.

Step 5

Once the rice cakes and dumplings are cooked, lightly beat 1 egg and slowly drizzle it into the simmering soup along the edge of the pot. Let the egg cook for a moment without stirring to form delicate ribbons. Finally, drizzle in 1/2 Tbsp of sesame oil for a nutty aroma.

Step 6

Ladle the finished Tteok Mandu Guk into bowls for a delicious meal! For an extra touch, you can garnish with seaweed flakes or sesame seeds. Enjoy your meal! 😊
