Main Ingredients- Tteok (rice cakes for tteokkochi)
Spicy and Sweet Tteokkochi Sauce- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 3 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligodang)
- 1 tsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 3 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligodang)
- 1 tsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the tteok (rice cakes). It’s best to space them out so they don’t stick together.
Step 2
Fry the tteok over medium-low heat, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside while remaining chewy on the inside. Ensure they are cooked evenly.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp ketchup, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 3 Tbsp corn syrup, and 1 tsp gochujang. Mix well to create the tteokkochi sauce. Add the fried tteok to the pan, pour the sauce over them, and simmer over low heat. Stir gently for about 1-2 minutes until the sauce coats the tteok evenly.
Step 4
Arrange the glazed tteokkochi attractively on a plate. They are best enjoyed warm. For an extra touch, you can sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
