Main Ingredients

  • Blanched Spinach (after preparation) – 220g (Keep the sweet, flavorful roots!)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • Soup Soy Sauce – 0.5 Tbsp
  • Tuna Extract (or Fish Sauce) – 1 Tbsp
  • Minced Garlic – 0.5 Tbsp
  • Sesame Oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Ground Sesame Seeds – 1 Tbsp
  • Whole Sesame Seeds – 0.5 Tbsp (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare your fresh spinach. Gently scrape off any dirt from the root ends with a knife. Don’t discard the roots; they are naturally sweet and tasty! If the spinach bunches are very large, you can cut them into 2-4 sections.

Step 1

Step 2

Rinse the spinach thoroughly under running water, about twice. This step is crucial to remove any remaining soil or impurities, especially around the roots.

Step 2

Step 3

Bring about 1 liter of water to a boil in a pot and add 1 Tbsp of salt. Once boiling, add the spinach, starting with the root ends, and blanch for approximately 30 seconds until the stems are slightly tender. If you prefer a softer texture, you can extend the blanching time by another 10-20 seconds.

Step 3

Step 4

Immediately transfer the blanched spinach to a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process and preserve its vibrant green color and crispness. Once cooled, gently squeeze out as much excess water as possible using your hands.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the squeezed spinach in a mixing bowl. Add the soup soy sauce, tuna extract, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ground sesame seeds. Gently toss and mix the ingredients with your hands, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed without crushing the spinach.

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, sprinkle with whole sesame seeds for garnish. Your delicious and sweet seasoned spinach is now ready! Enjoy this delightful dish with a bowl of warm rice.
