Sweet and Soft Condensed Milk Bread
How to Make Delicious Condensed Milk Bread at Home
This time, I made condensed milk bread instead of regular bread! It’s easy because you only need to add condensed milk to the standard bread ingredients, so you don’t need a lot of extra items. You should definitely try making it!

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Since bread making involves proofing time, it’s best to set aside about 3 hours for preparation. First, in a bowl, combine 230g of bread flour, 30g of sugar, 4g of salt, and 4g of active dry yeast. Mix them separately before bringing them together. This helps activate the yeast and promotes better fermentation.
Step 2
Add 100ml of milk and 1 egg to the mixed dry ingredients. Begin mixing everything together thoroughly. It might seem sticky at first, but as you continue to knead, it will start to form a dough ball.
Step 3
Once the dough starts coming together, add 30g of unsalted butter that has been softened at room temperature. Knead the dough vigorously for about 15 minutes until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Then, place the dough in a warm place (around 40°C or 104°F) for the first proofing for 50 minutes. The dough should rise to about 1.5 to 2 times its original size.
Step 4
While the dough is proofing, prepare your baking pan. If your loaf pan has holes in the bottom, lining it with aluminum foil can prevent the dough from leaking out. If you don’t have enough pans, you can also create additional molds using aluminum foil.
Step 5
Now, let’s make the condensed milk glaze for extra flavor. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 40g of butter. Once melted, add 40g of condensed milk and mix well with a whisk or spatula until smooth. This creates a delicious glaze.
Step 6
Brush about half of the prepared condensed milk glaze onto the bottom and sides of your baking pan. This prevents the bread from sticking and adds a lovely subtle flavor as it bakes. Reserve the remaining glaze to brush on top after baking.
Step 7
After the first proof, gently punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into 3 equal portions and let them rest for the second proof (intermediate proof). Dividing the dough evenly is important for consistent texture.
Step 8
Place the divided dough portions in an airtight container or a zip-top bag and let them rest at room temperature for about 15 minutes for their intermediate proof. They will slightly increase in volume and become softer, making them easier to shape.
Step 9
Once the intermediate proof is complete, use a rolling pin to flatten each dough portion into a rectangle. The width of the rectangle should be roughly the length of your baking pan, and the thickness should be uniform. Adjust the size of the dough to fit your pan.
Step 10
Spread the condensed milk filling evenly over the flattened dough, leaving about a 1cm border around the edges. Then, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar evenly over the condensed milk. This combination creates a delightful sweet filling.
Step 11
Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll up the dough. Pinch the seam firmly to seal it. This ensures the bread maintains its shape during baking.
Step 12
Slice the rolled dough into segments of your desired thickness, typically about 2-3cm apart for a nice cross-section, but you can adjust this to your preference. Arrange the sliced dough pieces snugly in the prepared baking pan. Allow the bread to undergo its second proof in a warm place (around 40°C or 104°F) for 40 minutes, or until the dough has risen to fill the pan.
Step 13
Once the second proof is complete and the dough has risen nicely, brush the top surface of the bread with milk for a golden-brown crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (338°F) for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Baking times may vary depending on your oven.
Step 14
Remove the beautifully baked condensed milk bread from the oven. Brush the remaining condensed milk glaze over the warm bread. The glaze will melt slightly, creating a wonderfully moist and glossy finish.
Step 15
Your delicious, soft, and sweet condensed milk bread is ready! You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment knowing you can create such a wonderful bread at home with ease. Enjoy your freshly baked condensed milk bread with a glass of warm milk or a cup of coffee.
