Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Don’t worry if you don’t have fresh water seaweed! You can make a wonderfully delicious seasoned water seaweed dish using dried seaweed. First, prepare your dried seaweed. Soak the dried seaweed in cool water for about 5 minutes until it becomes soft. Be careful not to soak it for too long, as it can become mushy.
Step 2
After 5 minutes, the dried seaweed will be nicely softened like this! Since it might retain some saltiness, gently rub it with your hands a couple of times under running water to rinse. Wash it a few more times in clean water, then squeeze out as much moisture as possible. Draining it well will improve the texture.
Step 3
The drained water seaweed has a delightfully chewy and crisp texture! On hot summer days when your appetite is lacking, there’s nothing quite like dipping this into a sweet and tangy chili-vinegar sauce. Now, simply cut it into bite-sized pieces, and you’re done! This is a super simple 10-minute dish, perfect for making often.
Step 4
I find that store-bought chili-vinegar sauce is often the best! Compared to homemade, the flavor from commercially available sauces is usually more robust. I personally highly recommend ‘Chungjungone Sunchang Gochujang.’ It has a perfectly balanced sweet, sour, and spicy flavor that isn’t too sweet or too sour. Give it a try!
Step 5
Arrange the cut water seaweed in a serving dish and serve with the recommended Chungjungone Sunchang Gochujang on the side. Dipping the water seaweed into the sweet and tangy sauce is absolutely delicious! It’s a simple yet elegant appetizer or accompaniment to drinks. Seaweed is also versatile; it can be used in refreshing chilled seaweed and cucumber soup. During the summer, there are many dishes you can make with seaweed. As the hot summer begins, how about trying this water seaweed for dinner tonight? It’s a fantastic choice when you’re hot and have a poor appetite.
