Sweet & Aromatic Homemade Apple Jam
Making Delicious Apple Jam with 2 Apples at Home
I made this apple jam because someone wanted some! It’s a perfect homemade jam for spreading on toast or topping yogurt.
Ingredients- 2 medium apples
- 1 cup granulated sugar (approx. 200g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the 2 fresh apples. Then, peel them using a knife or peeler, remove the core, and chop them into small, manageable pieces. If you prefer to keep the peel on, ensure they are washed exceptionally well.
Step 2
Place the chopped apples into a food processor or blender and process until finely minced. If you like a bit of texture, you don’t need to puree them completely; leaving small chunks adds a pleasant bite.
Step 3
Now, transfer the minced apples into a saucepan or a wide pan (a wok is recommended). Start cooking over medium heat. The apples will naturally begin to release their juices.
Step 4
Next, prepare 1 cup (approx. 200g) of granulated sugar. The amount of sugar can be adjusted based on the sweetness of your apples and your personal preference. If you prefer a less sweet jam, reduce the sugar quantity slightly.
Step 5
Once the apples start to simmer, add the prepared sugar and stir well with a spatula until it is completely dissolved. After the sugar has melted, reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring constantly to prevent sticking or burning.
Step 6
As time passes, the apple jam will begin to thicken. It’s crucial to stir periodically to ensure it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Be patient and let it cook until the jam becomes clear and develops a syrupy consistency.
Step 7
Typically, you’ll cook this over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes, or until it reaches your desired consistency. Remember that the jam will thicken further as it cools, so it’s best to remove it from the heat when it’s slightly looser than you want. Taste the jam and if it’s not sweet enough, you can add a little more sugar to adjust the flavor. Your delicious homemade apple jam is now complete!
Step 8
Pour the finished apple jam into clean, sterilized glass jars. Let the jars cool completely, then seal them and store them in the refrigerator. Freshly made apple jam will keep well in the fridge for about 2-3 weeks.
