Ingredients

  • 300ml Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Milk (200ml)
  • 3 Tbsp Honey (or sugar)
  • 3 Ripe Bananas
  • A little Cranberries (optional)
  • A little Chocolate Topping (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the bananas, the star of our sweet and cool ice cream! Choose bananas that are very ripe, perhaps with a few brown spots appearing on the peel. These will yield the sweetest flavor and best texture for ice cream.

Step 1

Step 2

Peel the prepared bananas and place them into a bowl. If you’re making this with children, peeling the bananas can be a fun and educational activity for them, helping to develop their fine motor skills.

Step 2

Step 3

Mash the peeled bananas thoroughly in the bowl. Use a fork or a potato masher to create a smooth puree. Ensuring there are no large chunks will contribute to a creamier ice cream texture. Kids usually love this mashing part!

Step 3

Step 4

Get your heavy cream and milk ready. These form the creamy base of our delightful ice cream.

Step 4

Step 5

Pour 300ml of heavy cream and 1 cup (about 200ml) of milk into a separate bowl. Whip the cream and milk together using a hand mixer or a whisk until soft peaks form. Avoid over-whipping; a slightly fluid but thickened consistency is ideal.

Step 5

Step 6

Add 3 tablespoons of honey to the whipped cream mixture. You can substitute sugar if preferred, and adjust the sweetness to your liking. Honey adds a wonderful depth of flavor.

Step 6

Step 7

Gently fold the mashed bananas into the whipped cream mixture. Use a spatula to combine them until well incorporated, ensuring no large banana lumps remain. The goal is a harmonious blend of banana sweetness and creamy richness.

Step 7

Step 8

Pour the banana ice cream mixture into a freezer-safe container. This could be a plastic tub, a silicone mold, or any container that can withstand freezing. Leave a little headspace, as the mixture might expand slightly as it freezes.

Step 8

Step 9

Add your desired toppings, such as cranberries or chocolate chips, and drizzle with chocolate syrup if you like. This adds both visual appeal and extra flavor dimensions. Cover the container securely with a lid or plastic wrap, and freeze for approximately 3 hours, or until firm.

Step 9

Step 10

Your homemade banana ice cream is ready! Enjoy this sweet, cool, and wonderfully creamy treat made with love, perfect for a fun time with family. It’s a healthy and satisfying dessert that everyone will adore!
