Main Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of Tteokgalbi (short rib patties)
  • 1 sweet potato
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/4 red bell pepper
  • 1/4 yellow bell pepper
  • 5 florets of broccoli

Seasoning & Others

  • 4 pinches of roasted salt
  • 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp whole sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp canola oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the sweet potato thoroughly. Then, slice it into half-moon shapes about 0.7 cm thick, similar in size to the Tteokgalbi. Be careful not to slice them too thinly, as they might fall apart.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a pan with 1 Tbsp of canola oil over medium-low heat (around induction level 4). Add the Tteokgalbi and sliced sweet potatoes. Cook them gently, flipping them occasionally until they are golden brown and slightly crispy. Avoid burning.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the Tteokgalbi and sweet potatoes are nicely browned on both sides, add the diced onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent. This step will enhance the sweetness and overall flavor of the dish.

Step 3

Step 4

Add the bell peppers, cut into bite-sized pieces, and the broccoli florets, trimmed into manageable pieces. Sprinkle 4 pinches of roasted salt evenly over the ingredients. Stir-fry briefly to keep the vegetables crisp and vibrant.

Step 4

Step 5

Remove the cooked Tteokgalbi from the pan and cut it into bite-sized pieces for easier eating. This step ensures the galbi mixes well with the vegetables and absorbs the sauce evenly in the final step.

Step 5

Step 6

Return the cut Tteokgalbi to the pan with the stir-fried vegetables. Add 2 Tbsp of oyster sauce, 0.5 Tbsp of sesame oil, and 1 Tbsp of whole sesame seeds. Stir everything together quickly over high heat until well combined. Your delicious Sweet Potato Galbi Chop Steak is ready! It’s a perfect side dish for rice or a simple appetizer.
