Today, we’ll be making oven-roasted sweet potatoes that are wonderfully moist on the inside and delightfully crispy on the outside. It’s a healthy and delicious treat that both children and adults will love!

  • 1kg small sweet potatoes

First, thoroughly wash the small sweet potatoes under running water. Make sure to scrub away any dirt or debris. Once clean, trim off the dry, woody ends from both sides of each sweet potato. This prepares them nicely for roasting.

Line a baking sheet or cookie tray with parchment paper. This prevents any sugars from caramelizing and sticking to the pan, making cleanup much easier. Next, preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) for about 10 minutes. A well-preheated oven is key to achieving the best roasting results.

Place the parchment-lined tray with the prepared sweet potatoes into the preheated oven. Roast at 220°C (425°F) for approximately 20 minutes. Position the baking tray on the middle rack of your oven. You should start to see the sweet potatoes turning a lovely golden brown.

If your sweet potatoes are on the larger side, carefully flip them over after the initial 20 minutes. Continue roasting for another 10 minutes.
