Ingredients

  • 1/4 small pumpkin (approx. 200g)
  • 200ml milk (adjust to your preference)
  • 1-2 Tbsp honey (optional, adjust based on pumpkin’s sweetness)

First, prepare the pumpkin. Wash the pumpkin thoroughly, then place it in a steamer. Steam for about 20-30 minutes until very soft. It’s important that a chopstick can easily pierce through it. It’s best to use the steamed pumpkin while it’s still warm.

Once the pumpkin is well-steamed, let it cool slightly. Remove the stem, peel the skin, and scoop out and discard the seeds. The cooked pumpkin should be soft enough to be easily mashed or broken into pieces by hand. Break or mash the steamed pumpkin into manageable chunks for the blender.

Add the prepared pumpkin chunks to a blender. Pour in enough milk to cover the pumpkin. The natural sweetness of the pumpkin might be enough, but if you prefer it sweeter, add 1-2 tablespoons of honey. (Adjust the amount of honey based on the pumpkin’s sweetness and your personal taste.) Secure the blender lid and blend until smooth, which should take about 1-2 minutes. For a refreshing twist, you can also blend in some ice cubes for a pumpkin smoothie.
