Main Ingredients- 1200g Beef or Pork (e.g., bulgogi cut, pork neck, pork belly – your preference)
- 1 Apple (adds sweetness and tenderizes the meat)
- 1 Onion (enhances flavor and sweetness)
Marinade Ingredients- 1/2 cup Soy Sauce (adjust according to saltiness)
- 3 Tbsp Chopped Green Onion
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced (approx. 2 Tbsp)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar (adjust sweetness as desired)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 1/2 cup Soy Sauce (adjust according to saltiness)
- 3 Tbsp Chopped Green Onion
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced (approx. 2 Tbsp)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar (adjust sweetness as desired)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all your ingredients. Gently pat the meat dry with paper towels to remove excess blood. Peel the apple and onion.
Step 2
Place the peeled apple and onion into a blender. Blend until they form a smooth puree. A very smooth consistency will help the marinade incorporate better.
Step 3
In a mixing bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients. Add 1/2 cup soy sauce, the chopped green onion and minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of sugar, a pinch of black pepper, sesame oil, and 2 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds. (Note: Adjust the soy sauce amount based on its saltiness.)
Step 4
Add the pureed apple and onion to the bowl with the other marinade ingredients. Stir everything together until well combined. The natural sweetness from the fruit and vegetables will create a wonderfully complex flavor.

Transfer the prepared meat to a large bowl. Pour the marinade over the meat. Using your hands or a spatula, ensure every piece of meat is thoroughly coated with the marinade.

Place the marinated meat in an airtight container or bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator. While it’s delicious eaten immediately, marinating for at least 30 minutes to 2 hours will allow the flavors to penetrate the meat, making it much more tender and flavorful. (Overnight marination is even better!)

After marinating, the meat will have absorbed the delicious flavors and will have a tempting color. It’s ready for cooking!

Heat a pan or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the marinated meat and cook, flipping occasionally, until it’s nicely browned and cooked through. Be mindful that the sugar in the marinade can cause it to brown quickly, so adjust the heat to medium-low if needed to prevent burning.
