Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- 1/2 apple (choose a fresh, firm variety)
- 2 Tbsp cream cheese (at room temperature)
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1/3 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- A pinch of powdered sugar (for garnish)
- A few nuts (e.g., sliced almonds, for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, it’s important to wash the apple thoroughly. Soak the apple in water with a little vinegar for about 5 minutes, then rinse it clean. Cut the apple in half afterward.
Step 2
Carefully remove the core and seeds from the center of each apple half using a knife or spoon.
Step 3
With the cut side of the apple facing up, slice it thinly to about 0.4mm thickness. Slicing them too thick will increase cooking time, while slicing too thin might cause them to break apart, so maintaining a consistent thickness is key.
Step 4
In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced apples with 1 Tbsp sugar, 1/3 tsp cinnamon powder, and 1 Tbsp lemon juice. Gently mix them together and let them sit for about 10 to 15 minutes to lightly macerate. The lemon juice will help prevent the apples from browning and add a touch of tartness.
Step 5
Spread the softened cream cheese evenly over both slices of bread using a spoon or spatula. Make sure to cover the surface all the way to the edges for the best flavor.
Step 6
Arrange the marinated apple slices attractively over the cream cheese layer on one slice of toast. Repeat the same process for the second slice of bread.
Step 7
Place the prepared apple open toasts into a preheated air fryer set at 180°C (350°F) and bake for 5 minutes. Cooking times can vary depending on your air fryer model, so it’s a good idea to check halfway through to ensure the apples are tender and the toast is golden brown, adjusting the time as needed.
Step 8
Once baked, lightly dust the apple open toasts with powdered sugar (using a sieve for an even coat) and sprinkle with your chosen nuts, like sliced almonds, for a beautiful finish. Your delicious apple open toast is now ready to enjoy!
