Ingredients

  • 20g minced Korean beef (tender cut)
  • 20g oatmeal (baby-grade)
  • 20g glutinous rice
  • 240g water (or breast milk/formula)
  • 5g sesame seeds (finely ground)
  • 1 tsp cooking wine (optional, to remove beef odor)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (for nutty aroma)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by preparing the oatmeal and glutinous rice. Gently rinse them under running water to remove any dust. Then, soak them in clean water for about 30 minutes. This soaking process will soften both the rice and oatmeal, making them much easier for your baby to digest and chew.

Step 2

Pat the minced Korean beef dry with paper towels to remove any excess blood. This step is crucial for a cleaner taste and to eliminate any gamey odors. In a lightly oiled pan (using sesame oil), sauté the minced beef along with the cooking wine (if using) until it’s just cooked through. Avoid overcooking at this stage to maintain a tender texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the soaked glutinous rice, softened oatmeal, and the sautéed beef to the pan along with the sesame oil. Stir-fry over medium-low heat for about 1 minute to meld the flavors. Then, pour in the water (or your baby’s usual breast milk/formula) and stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Step 3

Step 4

As the porridge cooks, it’s essential to stir continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Glutinous rice can be prone to sticking, so maintain a low heat and stir gently and frequently. Continue cooking until the porridge reaches a smooth, creamy consistency suitable for your baby.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the porridge has thickened to your desired consistency and the ingredients are well-cooked and soft, remove it from the heat. The ideal thickness can vary based on your baby’s age and preference, so adjust accordingly.

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, sprinkle the finely ground sesame seeds over the porridge. This adds a lovely nutty flavor and a touch of elegance. Allow the porridge to cool to a safe, warm temperature before serving it to your little one. Enjoy this nutritious meal!
