Main Ingredients
  • 200g Spam (one can, cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 40g Bacon (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced (or 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic)
  • 1 King Oyster Mushroom (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1/3 Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 Green Onion, chopped
  • 1 serving Spaghetti (approx. 100g)

Sauce & Seasoning
  • 3 Tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp Butter
  • 150ml Milk
  • 450ml Water
  • 2/3 packet Ramen Soup Powder (adjust to taste)
  • 2 Tbsp Kimchi Juice (from well-fermented kimchi)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Melt the cooking oil and butter in a wide pan over medium-low heat. Be careful not to burn the butter, as it will add a fragrant aroma.

Step 2

Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and lightly golden. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent the garlic from burning.

Step 3

Now, add the Spam and bacon, which you’ve pre-cut, to the pan with the garlic-infused oil. Cook them until they are nicely browned. The fat rendered from the Spam and bacon will add a wonderful flavor.

Step 4

When the Spam and bacon are partially cooked, add the sliced king oyster mushroom, onion, and green onion. Sauté everything together until the vegetables soften. The sweetness and aroma released from the vegetables will enhance the dish.

Step 5

Push the ingredients to one side of the pan. Add the water (450ml) and spaghetti (1 serving) to the cleared space. Once the water boils, gently stir to separate the spaghetti strands and cook for about 4 minutes. (Cook for slightly less time than indicated on the pasta package).

Step 6

When the pasta is almost done, pour in the milk (150ml), and add the ramen soup powder (2/3 packet) and kimchi juice (2 Tbsp). Stir well to combine. Once everything comes to a boil, you’ll hear the delicious bubbling sound.

Step 7

Continue to simmer for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to coat the pasta and thicken slightly. Your delicious Budae Jjigae Pasta is ready when the pasta is perfectly cooked and the sauce is just right! Feel free to add cheese or a sprinkle of parsley for an extra touch. Enjoy your meal! +_+
