Main Ingredients

  • Pork (ground or thinly sliced) – about 100g
  • Jjajangmyeon ramen packs – 3
  • Onion – 1/2 medium
  • Chinese cabbage – about 1/4 head

Seasoning & Others

  • Black pepper – a pinch
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Cooking oil (vegetable or olive oil)
  • Jjajangmyeon soup base packets (including dried vegetable packet)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, season the pork with a pinch of black pepper and salt. Heat a tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the seasoned pork and stir-fry, breaking it up with a spatula, until it’s browned and cooked through. (Tip: Ground pork will give a softer texture.)

Step 1

Step 2

Thinly slice the onion and chop the Chinese cabbage into bite-sized pieces (about 1.5 cm wide). Add the prepared onion and cabbage to the same pan where you cooked the pork. Add another pinch of salt and a little more oil. Stir-fry over medium-low heat until the vegetables become translucent, tender, and slightly sweet. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 2

Step 3

Bring a generous pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the ramen noodles and the dried vegetable packet. Cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute longer than the package instructions suggest, aiming for perfectly chewy yet tender noodles.

Step 3

Step 4

Drain the cooked noodles using a colander and immediately transfer them to the pan with the cooked pork and vegetables. Reserve about 1 ladleful of the noodle cooking water and add it to the pan. Add the dried vegetable packet (if not already added) and the jjajangmyeon soup base packet. Stir to combine over medium heat.

Step 4

Step 5

Using a spatula or chopsticks, quickly stir and toss the noodles with the sauce, vegetables, and pork. The noodle water helps to loosen the sauce and allows it to coat the noodles and ingredients evenly. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until everything is well combined and the sauce is rich. Serve immediately while hot for the best flavor!
