Ingredients
- 2 cartons (2000ml total) fresh milk
- 2 bottles (80ml each, 160ml total) Activia plain yogurt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare for Yogurt Making: Gather 2 cartons (approximately 2000ml) of fresh milk and 2 bottles (80ml each, 160ml total) of Activia plain yogurt. Using fresh, high-quality ingredients will result in a more delicious yogurt.
Step 2
Combine in Ocu Machine: Pour all the prepared milk and Activia yogurt into the Ocu’s dedicated container. Gently stir with a spoon or spatula until well combined. Place the container into the Ocu main unit, select the ‘Yogurt’ course, and set it to ferment for 8 hours. The fermentation time can be adjusted based on your Ocu model or desired thickness.
Step 3
First Fermentation Complete: After 8 hours, you will see that the yogurt has become softly curdled inside the Ocu. It will still be quite liquid at this stage, but this is the beginning of your delicious Greek yogurt.
Step 4
Begin Straining Whey: Carefully transfer the fermented yogurt into a cheesecloth or a clean muslin bag. Gather the edges of the cloth and tie them securely. Place the tied cloth bag over a sieve set inside a clean bowl. To help drain the whey (liquid), place a heavy container or plate on top of the cloth bag to press down. This encourages the whey to drain into the bowl below. Now, place this setup in the refrigerator for 10 hours to strain the whey.
Step 5
Second Whey Strain & Thicken: After 10 hours, remove the cloth bag from the refrigerator and check the consistency. If the yogurt has become thicker, invert the cloth bag. This allows any remaining whey to drain more effectively. Place the heavy weight back on top and return it to the refrigerator for another 5 hours. This step helps achieve your desired thick, Greek yogurt texture.
Step 6
Finished & Storing: Your thick and creamy homemade Greek yogurt is finally ready! Transfer the yogurt into a clean, sterilized airtight container. Store the finished Greek yogurt in the refrigerator. For the best fresh taste, consume within one week. Enjoy it with fruits, granola, honey, or your favorite toppings for a healthy breakfast or snack!
