- Pinch of black pepper (to taste)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Finely mince the Cheongyang peppers after washing them and removing the stems and seeds. Finely mince the red chili pepper as well for a pop of color.
Step 2
Press the tofu firmly using a cheesecloth or paper towels to remove as much water as possible. Properly draining the tofu is crucial to prevent the batter from becoming too wet and to ensure the pancakes hold their shape. In a bowl, combine the drained tofu with the minced peppers, flour, perilla seed powder, sesame oil, black pepper, and ssamjang. Knead the mixture with your hands until all ingredients are well incorporated and a cohesive dough forms. Thoroughly mixing is key.
Step 3
Scoop out portions of the dough and flatten them into small, round patties with your palms. Aim for a moderate thickness so they cook through evenly. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the flattened tofu patties into the hot oil and pan-fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning and ensure even cooking.
