Tomato and Abalone Tteokbokki
Easy Air Fryer Recipe for Tomato and Abalone Tteokbokki
This unique tteokbokki combines a rich tomato sauce with fresh abalone and chewy rice cakes. It’s conveniently made using an air fryer, and the tomato sauce, often used for pasta, adds an unexpected and delightful flavor dimension to tteokbokki. Based on recipes from ‘Dadaeda Air Fryer Ultimate Recipes’ and ‘Air Fryer Golden Recipes 143’, this dish offers a gourmet twist you can easily recreate at home.
Ingredients- Tomato sauce 6 Tbsp
- 1 Tomato
- 5 Small abalones
- 200g Tteokbokki rice cakes
- 100ml Water
- 1/2 Onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. Prepare the abalone: Gently separate the abalone meat from the shell using a spoon. Clean the abalone thoroughly with a toothbrush to remove any sand or grit. Trim away the sharp mouth parts and the hard innards with scissors. Marinate the cleaned abalone meat with 1 Tbsp of mirin (or cooking sake) to reduce any fishy odor and enhance flavor.
Step 2
2. Prepare the rice cakes: Tteokbokki rice cakes can sometimes be stiff. Soak them in cool water for about 5 minutes until they become soft and pliable. This step ensures the tteok don’t clump together during cooking and absorb the sauce evenly.
Step 3
3. Mix ingredients and sauce: In a bowl, combine 6 Tbsp of tomato sauce, 1 chopped tomato, the soaked tteokbokki rice cakes, the marinated abalone, and 1/2 sliced onion. Add 100ml of water and mix everything thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly coated with the sauce. Ensuring an even coating is key for great flavor.
Step 4
4. Air fry: Arrange the coated ingredients attractively in an air fryer-safe dish. Place the dish into the preheated air fryer. Cook at 185°C (365°F) for 17 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model and the amount of ingredients, so it’s a good idea to check halfway through to ensure the tteok and abalone are cooked to your liking.
Step 5
5. Serve and tips: Once cooked, your delicious Tomato and Abalone Tteokbokki is ready to be enjoyed! For an extra touch, consider adding cheese or a sprinkle of parsley flakes before serving. This recipe is a variation of the soupy tteokbokki featured in ‘Dadaeda Air Fryer Ultimate Recipes’ and ‘Air Fryer Golden Recipes 143’.
