Tuna Tofu Pancake: The Perfect Makgeolli Snack!
Simple Makgeolli Appetizer: Delicious Tuna Tofu Pancake Recipe Using Canned Tuna!
Introducing the Tuna Tofu Pancake, a delightful dish featuring the perfect pairing of savory tofu and flavorful canned tuna, making it an ideal companion for Makgeolli. This recipe is not only great for special occasions but also serves as a wonderful, easy appetizer.
Main Ingredients- 1/2 block firm tofu (approx. 150g)
- 1 can (135g) canned tuna
- 1/2 stalk green onion (approx. 50g)
- 3 large eggs
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the necessary ingredients. The canned tuna is 135g, and it’s crucial to drain the oil thoroughly before adding it to the mixture to ensure a clean taste without greasiness.
Step 2
Finely chop about 50g of green onion. If you chop them too thickly, the texture might not be as pleasant when cooked. Thinly sliced pieces are best for a good bite.
Step 3
Drain the tofu well. Then, use a fork or a masher to break it down into a smooth consistency. Mashing the tofu finely is key to achieving a soft texture for the pancake.
Step 4
In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed tofu and the chopped green onions.
Step 5
Add the drained canned tuna to the bowl, mixing it well with the tofu and green onions.
Step 6
Crack 3 fresh eggs into the bowl. This will help bind the ingredients together.
Step 7
Add 0.3 Tbsp of salt to season the mixture. It’s recommended to taste and adjust the saltiness according to your preference.
Step 8
Add about 0.2 Tbsp of black pepper for an extra layer of flavor. Be careful not to add too much, as it can make the pancake spicy.
Step 9
Using a spatula or spoon, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Ensure the tofu, tuna, and eggs are evenly distributed without any clumps.
Step 10
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Sufficient oil prevents the pancake from sticking and helps it brown evenly. Spoon portions of the mixed batter onto the hot pan to form small pancakes.
Step 11
Using an omelet pan or a small square pan can help create a neat shape, but a regular frying pan works just fine. Cook on medium heat until one side is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until it’s also golden.
Step 12
If the pancake is too large or thick to flip easily, use a knife or spatula to cut it into smaller sections before flipping. This makes the process much smoother. Once both sides are nicely browned, transfer the completed Tuna Tofu Pancake to a plate and enjoy! It’s especially delicious with Makgeolli.
