Turmeric Oyster Pancakes

Delicious and Savory Oyster Pancakes with Turmeric Powder, Beneficial for Brain Health

Turmeric Oyster Pancakes

I recently saw a broadcast mentioning that turmeric powder and curry powder are good for preventing dementia. So, I decided to make oyster pancakes using the turmeric powder I had at home. As we age, dementia is often the biggest concern, isn’t it? I believe living healthily without losing one’s mind until the very end is the greatest blessing. I made these oyster pancakes after a long time, and they disappeared from the plate in no time!

Pancake Ingredients

  • 200g fresh oysters
  • 1/2 cup pancake mix
  • Turmeric powder (to taste, about 1-2 tsp)
  • 1 Korean green chili pepper
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • Cooking oil (generous amount)

Dipping Sauce Ingredients (Optional)

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 Tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 0.5 Tbsp minced green onion

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Carefully rinse the fresh oysters under running water to clean them thoroughly. Gently pat them dry to remove excess moisture; this helps the batter adhere better.

Step 1

Step 2

Place the cleaned oysters in a plastic bag. Add the pancake mix and turmeric powder, then seal the bag and gently shake it to evenly coat the oysters. The turmeric powder helps to neutralize any oyster smell and adds a lovely color.

Step 2

Step 3

Cut the green and red chili peppers in half, scrape out all the seeds with a spoon, and finely mince them. These will add a touch of spice and vibrant color to your pancakes.

Step 3

Step 4

In a bowl, whisk the two eggs until well beaten. Add the minced chili peppers to the beaten eggs and mix them together to create the egg batter.

Step 4

Step 5

Dip the flour-coated oysters into the egg batter, ensuring each oyster is well coated. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Use a spoon to scoop portions of the oyster mixture and carefully place them onto the hot pan, forming small pancakes.

Step 5

Step 6

Cook the oyster pancakes over medium-low heat. This slow cooking process allows them to turn a beautiful golden brown without burning, ensuring they are cooked through and deliciously crispy.

Step 6

Step 7

As you cook, you can enjoy a warm oyster pancake! Plate the golden-brown pancakes once they are ready. While a dipping sauce is optional, the pancakes are delicious on their own due to the fresh oyster flavor and the subtle hint of turmeric.
